Aix moderne et contemporaine - Balade urbaine

La Compagnie des rêves urbains is an association dedicated to the mediation of architecture and urban planning. From the outset, the association has chosen to use a playful approach to arouse curiosity about the city, and offers an urban stroll.
The aim of the urban walk books is to give families and schoolchildren an educational way of discovering the towns and cities of the Bouches-du-Rhône department from the point of view of architecture, town planning and landscape.

Discover architecture as a family and have fun at the same time! Download and print this urban walk booklet. It will guide you through architecture, particularly contemporary architecture and the modern period (a self-guided tour).

The 20th and 21st centuries: the awakening of the "Sleeping Beauty"? New architecture emerged in the 20th century. The Cité Universitaire, the Palais Victor Hugo and the Cité Gontard that you are about to see are the most striking examples. These buildings were highly original for their time.

Major facilities were also built during this period. You'll see how the post office was later restored and integrated into the Sextius-Mirabeau urban development project.

The tour then moves on to the buildings of the 21st century, a true testament to contemporary architecture in a perpetual state of reinvention.
